Spoon Jail is Clearly Better Than Forc Jail

Yo! It has been awhile. Illness and scheduling conflicts have wrecked havoc on us but we are happy to be back! Thorn, Gum, and Slimer find themselves locked in jail with a surprise guest, Bramble! Bramble is played by our children’s librarian, Amber.

I realized we didn’t get to touch on Bramble’s backstory too much so I’ll let you read what I sent Amber prior to us playing:

“Spoonville is a humble little village that few travelers know about. The spoons of Spoonville are hard working folk but always quick to share a laugh with anyone who will listen. They are good natured at heart and welcome all to their village. They especially like sharing their “world famous” soups to outsiders.

But that’s not why Bramble is here. She’s not here for the soups or the limericks, she’s here to steal a golden ladle. You see, the Spoons of Spoonville are not a particularly wealthy folk. It took a lot of trading and bartering and hard work to obtain enough gold to forge a very special ladle. This golden ladle is the pièce de résistance to the statue honoring Mayor Cuchara. The mayor was the founding member of Spoonville and recently passed away from old age.

Bramble came to Spoonville under the cover of night. She climbed the massive statue in the center of town and easily swiped the ladle out of Mayor Cuchara’s grasp. What she did not expect was to be roped into a lovely conversation with one of the denizens. Bramble let her guard slip and decided to join them for a bowl of soup at the tavern. During the festivities, and a particularly quiet part of a song the ladle slipped from her pouch and hit the wooden floor with a thundering *THUNK!*

The spoons of Spoonville were shocked. They’ve never experienced this type of betrayal before. They were very upset and wanted Bramble to atone for this act. So they collectively agreed that Bramble will help make soups and tend to crops for 2 weeks. Bramble will also spend her nights locked up so she wont scurry off in the middle of the night.

Why does Spoonville have a jail if they are such a peaceful town? I can tell you it’s NOT because the DM didn’t think this scenario through but because Spoonville was built on top of an old dungeon. And while the spoons covered up that particular eyesore they made an exception for their recent guest.

On the seventh night of her stay Bramble heard a bunch of ruckus coming from beyond her walls. She patiently waited as the noise grew louder and louder until the door burst open. There were four forcs. Two were carrying unconscious bodies. A dwarf and a lizard person. The other two were viciously fighting some sort of slime creature.

The fight eventually ended and all three were thrown into a cell beside her. Better let them get their rest. They’ll need it.”
